New Beginners Preparatory provides an integrated course schedule of learning through exploration, scrutiny, and self-reflection. In every class, our teachers emphasize the strategies and processes involved in learning and self-growth, creating a unique opportunity to prepare our students to live intelligent, thoughtful, and fulfilling lives in a rapidly changing society. BIOLOGY
This course is designed so that students experience a rigorous curriculum which explores biological concepts such as; biological principles, basic biochemistry, cell structure and function, homeostasis and transport, nucleic acids and protein synthesis, mitosis and meiosis, fundamentals of genetics, evolution, taxonomy, microorganisms, and basic ecological principles. Critical thinking skills are stressed and students will be challenged to demonstrate these skills. Students will also participate in several projects including lab reports, oral presentations essay writing and modeling.
COMPUTER SCIENCE
Develop the knowledge and skills to plan, manage, implement, update, and analyze a variety of computer systems, concepts and applications.
Whether you are interested in specialized networks, databases, applications or hardware, there is something here for you. Many of the computer-training classes are accredited into part- and full-time programs, so you will have plenty of opportunities to expand on your skill set and earn credits towards a certificate.
DIPLOMA
Enroll in our hands-on, innovative class for intermediate and advanced students. Our qualified and experienced teachers serve as facilitators of the learning process. Instead of simply lecturing, they guide students by helping make sense of course materials, encouraging them to ask questions and explore solutions, and promoting the use of resources outside of the classroom.
ENGLISH
By studying English, you will gain a huge range of life skills you cannot get at home. Invaluable skills like problem-solving, leading diverse teams of people, and applying your English to real-world situations – abilities you will draw on for the rest of your life. With a multicultural mix of students in our educational facilities, you will learn the world’s language in a truly international environment.
MATHEMATICS
Mathematics – This course will place a strong emphasis on the continued study of integers, order of operations, variables, expressions, and equations. Students will solve and graph equations and inequalities, write and solve proportions, and explore geometry, statistics, and graph concepts. Problem solving will be emphasized throughout the course. Students who earn below a 70% in Pre-Algebra are scheduled for Cognitive Tutor. Students who earn a 70% or above will be prepared to take Algebra I.
SCIENCE/CHEMISTRY
Integrated Science This course combines the essential topics from Science and Physical Science. The topics taught in the Physical Science text include matter and its properties, understanding the periodic table at the molecular level, naming and writing chemical formulas, and balancing chemical formulas. The Science sub-branches
covered are the units on Meteorology and Astronomy. The school Weather Bug System is a major area of study that is used throughout the Meteorology curriculum. The final unit deals with the relationship of each area of study and how they affect the environment.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Social Studies-- is a course based upon world history, geography, economics, government, and ecology standards—to fulfill their social studies requirement. During Social Studies, students journey backwards through time to discover a world of empires. First, students learn how Greek civilization flourished to contribute many gifts (like psychology, democracy, art, literature, and theater) that we continue to use during our modern times. Throughout Social Studies, students strengthen their cartography, critical thinking, and creative writing skills. In addition to studying how to organize answers to essay questions and to write creatively.
